Some forms of beauty arrive on a schedule older than memory.
Field Notes
Across much of India, the arrival of the monsoon brings more than rain. Peacocks emerge into the landscape with renewed energy, calling from rooftops, fields, and village roads. Their displays become part of the season itself. For generations, people have associated the first dark clouds with the sight and sound of peacocks welcoming the rains. Nature is not experienced as isolated events, but as recurring relationships between weather, wildlife, and memory.
