What looks like decoration is the visible record of a life growing outward.
Field Notes
A shell is made slowly, one thin layer at a time. Color settles into its ridges; interruptions remain as lines, chips, and changes in texture. The surface does not merely protect the life within it—it carries the history of how that life became larger.
Perhaps this is why natural pattern feels different from ornament. Nothing was added simply to make it beautiful. The beauty is what remains when growth is allowed to leave a trace.
