Roots are built in darkness. They spread without recognition, taking on pressure long before anything above them appears to move. When the shoreline erodes, that hidden architecture is pulled into view—not because it has failed, but because it has continued to hold after the conditions around it changed.
We often mistake exposure for weakness. Here, it is evidence of the opposite: a record of every unseen adaptation that made remaining upright possible.
