Its surface folds like skin. Veins rise beneath it, carrying what the flower needs through a body built without blood, muscle, or a brain.
We are quick to call the resemblance poetic, as though the plant is borrowing our language. But perhaps living bodies have always been repeating one another. Perhaps intelligence begins before thought—in the ability to sense, carry, adjust, and keep becoming.
