Our first instinct is often to reach for what delights us—to hold it still, keep it close, make sure it doesn’t disappear. But some experiences are richest when they are simply witnessed. A soap bubble remains beautiful not because it lasts, but because, for a brief moment, we allow it to drift through our lives exactly as it is. Sometimes the deepest way to appreciate something is not to possess it at all, but to let it remain wonderfully, completely itself.
