Field Notes
We usually imagine life as separate creatures moving through an environment. Here, the environment itself is made of living bodies—layer upon layer of small lives creating the surface we see.
The ocean makes it difficult to tell where one creature ends and its surroundings begin. What resembles a textile is really a community: each life distinct, yet woven into something larger simply by living beside the others.
