Someone sits on the porch.
Flowers grow beside the fence.
Laundry gets folded.
Dinner gets cooked.
People fall in love.
Arguments happen.
Birthdays are celebrated.
Life continues.
Above them, millions of pounds of concrete carry strangers overhead.
Layer after layer.
Road built on road built on road.
The neighborhood adapted.
Because people always adapt.
The question is whether adaptation is the same thing as acceptance.
