Every ordinary day leaves a material record.
Field Notes
Most of these closures were designed to last only a few moments in our hands.
A bottle is opened. A medicine is finished. A condiment is emptied. The cap becomes invisible almost immediately.
Yet the materials remember.
Long after the drink, the meal, the shampoo, or the prescription has disappeared, these small objects remain—compressed together with millions of others into a new layer of the human world.
Seen one at a time, they feel insignificant.
Seen together, they become a portrait of an entire civilization.
