The hardest boss to leave is the one who lives inside you.
Field Notes
For generations, work ended when someone else told us we could go home.
Many of us wanted something different. We wanted to work for ourselves. To make our own schedules. To build something that belonged to us.
And many of us did.
But somewhere along the way, the manager followed us home.
It asks for one more photo. One more post. One more email. One more revision. One more opportunity we can’t afford to miss.
The office no longer has walls because it has become our own mind.
Sometimes the greatest freedom isn’t building a life where you answer to no one.
It’s remembering that, when you work for yourself, you’re also the only person who can tell yourself you’re done for today.
