Long before humans spun thread or built looms, the natural world was already weaving. The dense interiors of certain thorn shrubs create tangled architectures of extraordinary complexity—thousands of slender branches crossing, bending, and layering until they resemble weathered cloth viewed up close. It’s possible that early people, surrounded by these living patterns every day, found inspiration not by inventing weaving from nothing, but by recognizing a design nature had been refining for millions of years. Sometimes culture begins with careful observation.
