The rainforest once fed, sheltered, and sustained an extraordinary diversity of life. Today, much of that same land is managed to produce a single global commodity. The palms are healthy. The harvest is valuable. The work is real. But an ecosystem measured in thousands of relationships has been replaced by one measured largely in yield. What appears abundant can also be profoundly diminished.
