The things that make us feel most visible can sometimes make us hardest to find.
Field Notes
A room overflowing with flowers, cards, gifts, children’s drawings, evidence of appreciation from hundreds or thousands of people.
The event is over.
The performance is over.
The congratulations have arrived.
Everything that was supposed to feel meaningful is present.
Yet the most important thing here is the sleeping woman.
Tiny.
Ordinary.
Human.
The piece asks a simple question:
Who was all of this for?
Not in a cynical way.
In a human way.
Because being admired and being known are not the same thing.
And sometimes the loudest evidence of love arrives after the moment you needed love most.
