A clock is one of humanity’s most remarkable inventions. It allows strangers to meet, trains to arrive, surgeries to begin, and societies to cooperate across enormous distances. But a tool can quietly become something more than a tool. When every moment is valued mainly for what comes next, the present becomes little more than a line separating the past from the future. Sometimes the most radical thing we can do isn’t to stop watching the clock, but to remember that it was always meant to serve life—not replace it.
