What if the world was already full of inner lives before anything learned to speak?
Field Notes
We give language so much authority. When someone can explain an inner life in words, we believe there is someone inside; when a being cannot, we often mistake that silence for emptiness.
But the world was alive before our voices entered it. These small blue beings still meet light, warmth, touch, danger, and one another without speaking a word. Perhaps silence has never meant that nothing is happening. Perhaps it only means that life is happening in ways we have not learned to hear.
