We tend to think imagination is the source of the world’s most extraordinary creations. But imagination has competition. Long before there were artists, architects, or storytellers, pressure folded minerals into impossible patterns beneath an ancient sea. The result looks designed. Intentional. Almost fictional. Yet no one planned it. No one chose the colors. No one drew the lines. Sometimes wonder arrives not because reality resembles art, but because art has always been trying to resemble reality.
