We usually trust hard things to hold us.
Field Notes
Most of our cities are built from materials that resist us: stone, steel, concrete, glass. But strength does not always have to come from hardness. Sometimes it comes from many delicate layers supporting one another, each almost weightless on its own. What would public space feel like if softness were treated as structure rather than decoration? Maybe the way upward does not always need to be rigid.
