Nothing here was waiting for us.
Field Notes
It is easy to imagine wilderness as empty until someone arrives to witness it. But the forest does not pause between visitors.
The deer continues feeding. The owl continues watching. Moss continues growing. Fallen trees continue becoming soil.
Life does not begin when it enters our awareness.
The world is happening everywhere, all at once, whether we are paying attention or not.
The privilege is not that nature exists for us to see.
The privilege is getting to see even a small part of it at all.
