Not everything valuable is beautiful.
Field Notes
The corpse flower is famous for producing one of the most unpleasant smells in the plant world. Its odor resembles decay, but the smell has a purpose. By mimicking rotting flesh, the flower attracts flies and beetles that help pollinate it. What seems repulsive to one species becomes an invitation to another. In nature, beauty is not the only strategy for survival. Sometimes what is vile, strange, or difficult to approach is also doing necessary work.
