Field Notes
Both are designed to serve enormous numbers of people with as much efficiency, predictability, and consistency as possible. The same logic that organizes a fast-food kitchen can also organize waiting rooms, patient flow, cafeterias, coffee shops, signage, and entire hospital campuses. It’s a formula that solves real problems—and because it works so well, it rarely stays in one place.
The strange part is that we gradually stop seeing the formula itself. We only notice that more and more of the world begins to feel the same.
