Most systems do not fail all at once.
They drift.
A small problem appears and someone finds a way around it.
Then another.
And another.
A bucket beneath a leak.
A new rule.
An extra step.
A person working a little harder than they should.
Each solution makes sense on its own.
Life continues.
Coffee is served. Children laugh. The music keeps playing.
Over time, the workarounds begin to outnumber the original design.
What people experience as a functioning system is often a collection of temporary fixes held in place by habit, effort, and attention.
From a distance it can look stable.
Up close, you realize stability is something being continuously created.
Not because nothing is wrong.
Because people keep adapting faster than the problems can spread.
