The world doesn’t become more interesting because everything follows the rules. It becomes more interesting because sometimes something doesn’t.

Obsidian exists because something unusual happened. Volcanic fire, rapid cooling, silica, and time came together to create something that none of those ingredients resemble on their own.
Nature is full of these exceptions. Novelty keeps appearing because different things keep meeting in different ways. A slight change in timing, temperature, pressure, or place can produce something the world has never seen before.
It makes me think of people, too. Sometimes the most beautiful ideas, relationships, or ways of living come from combinations no one would have thought to try.
