The forests still exist, but as disconnected pockets between expanding mines. What was once a continuous landscape becomes a collection of isolated places. Wildlife adapts where it can. Communities do the same. Sometimes a place changes long before anyone is forced to leave, because home is more than a location—it’s the connections that make that place feel whole.
