Life rarely repeats itself exactly, even when it appears to be making the same thing.
Field Notes
At first glance, every flower seems to follow a design. But the longer we look, the more that certainty dissolves. No spot sits in quite the same place. No edge curves in exactly the same way. Even within a single blossom, repetition gives way to improvisation.
Perhaps this is one of nature’s quiet habits. It preserves identity without insisting on sameness. The world does not seem interested in producing copies. It returns to familiar forms again and again, allowing each one to become its own small variation. Looking closely enough, we begin to realize that difference is not an exception to the pattern—it is part of the pattern itself.
