What looks painted was grown.
Field Notes
From only a few inches away, the kingfisher almost disappears. The eye slips into the corner while cobalt, turquoise, white, and copper feathers become the landscape. What first feels like an abstract work of art slowly reveals itself as a living bird. Sometimes the closer we look, the less nature resembles something made—and the more it reminds us that beauty has been quietly weaving itself all along.
