Not everyone has space for what you naturally give.
Field Notes
Some relationships fail because of cruelty.
Others fail because of indifference.
And some fail for a quieter reason.
One person arrives carrying something the other person does not know how to hold.
Not everyone gives in the same way. Some people offer time. Some offer attention. Some offer loyalty. Some offer enthusiasm, generosity, curiosity, encouragement, affection, or care. What feels natural to one person can feel overwhelming to another.
When this happens, it is easy to conclude that the gift itself was the problem.
Too much attention. Too much effort. Too much feeling. Too much care.
But capacity and value are not the same thing.
A glass is not flawed because it cannot hold a river.
A cottage is not flawed because it cannot contain a meadow.
And a meadow does not become less beautiful because it was brought to the wrong doorway.
Sometimes what hurts most is not rejection. It is realizing that something offered sincerely cannot be received in the form it was given.
Not because it lacked worth.
Not because it was wrong.
Only because not everyone has space for what you naturally give.
