When Imagination Leads
Creative freedom may begin when we stop demanding that every beautiful impulse immediately become something useful, finished, or profitable.
Field Notes
Imagination needs stretches of time in which nothing is being forced to happen. When creativity is no longer required to prove its value, meet a deadline, or become a source of income, it can begin arranging a life around curiosity instead of urgency.
Freedom is not always having endless choices. Sometimes it is simply having enough room to follow what fascinates us before we know where it is going—and allowing the life that grows from that attention to surprise us.
