Sometimes the monsters we remember were just ordinary things we hadn’t learned yet.
Field Notes
As children, we borrow our imaginations to explain what we don’t understand. A fan becomes a monster. Tree branches become hands. Shadows become visitors. Then one day we look a little closer. We flip on the light. We ask a question. We watch a little longer. And suddenly the monster becomes a fan, the hands become branches, and the fear quietly disappears. I wonder how many of our fears, even now, are still waiting for us to look a little closer.
