Some experiences don’t make us feel powerless. They make us feel properly sized.
Field Notes
Most of modern life places us at the center of the story.
Our schedules.
Our goals.
Our opinions.
Our problems.
Then occasionally something reminds us that we are part of a much larger world.
A mountain.
An ocean.
A night sky.
A thunderstorm stretching across the horizon.
For a moment, the self becomes smaller.
Not diminished.
Just placed back into context.
And strangely, that can feel like relief.
