Transportation does more than move people. It shapes how daily life feels.
Field Notes
Most conversations about transportation focus on speed, cost, and efficiency. Much less attention is given to the experience of traveling itself. Yet millions of people spend years of their lives in transit. The design of those journeys influences stress, attention, conversation, and even our relationship with the places we live. Every transportation system reflects a set of assumptions about what matters. Some move people as quickly as possible. Others might ask a different question: what if getting there was part of the destination?
