In southern Tuscany, the village of Bagno Vignoni was built around water that has risen from deep within the Earth for thousands of years. Long before modern spas, these mineral-rich springs attracted Etruscans, Romans, pilgrims, and travelers seeking warmth, healing, and rest.
Unlike most villages, its center isn’t a piazza but a pool.
The water continues beyond the historic baths, flowing past an old mill before joining the river below—a quiet reminder that what seems still is always moving.
Some places become famous because people build them.
