The image explores a peculiar feature of human behavior: our tendency to trust signals over direct experience. Once something becomes official, certified, or institutionally recognized, it can begin to appear more valuable than the countless equivalent things surrounding it.
The absurdity is subtle because the crowd is behaving reasonably. Nobody appears foolish. Nobody is being coerced. They are simply responding to a shared cultural cue.
