Some people stopped.
Field Notes
The storm dominates the photograph.
The sky dominates the storm.
The road cuts through the landscape as if it belongs to us.
And scattered across the pavement are hundreds of tinlives that most people would never notice.
The crabs are small enough to ignore. Small enough to inconvenience. Small enough to be treated as part of the scenery.
Yet a few people pulled over anyway.
Not because the crabs were useful.
Not because anyone was watching.
Not because the act would change the world.
Simply because they saw something vulnerable and decided it mattered.
Most of life depends on moments like this.
Not grand acts of heroism.
Tiny acts of attention.
A civilization is shaped not only by how it treats what is powerful, visible, and important — but also by how it treats what is small enough to overlook.
This feels very Kind Perspective to me because it isn’t really about crabs.
It’s about the rare and beautiful moment when someone decides that a small life is worth slowing down for.
