Travel often changes perception more deeply than information does.
Field Notes
Many people inherit an extremely narrow understanding of how life is supposed to be lived.
Certain schedules. Certain ambitions. Certain definitions of beauty, success, adulthood, or meaning.
But entering unfamiliar environments can quietly reorganize perception.
Different cultures often relate to: time, beauty, aging, ritual, community, rest, and presencein radically different ways.
The experience is not only about seeing a new place.
It is about realizing there are many valid ways to exist as a human being.
Sometimes exploration expands consciousness simply by revealing: the world is far larger, more creative, more relational, and more alivethan previously imagined.
Beauty is not distributed equally through environments.
Some places remember how to live more slowly.
