Rest Is Also Part of Nature
Not every form of healing looks productive from the outside.
Field Notes
Modern culture often treats restas something that must be earned.
After the work. After the achievement. After becoming “enough.”
But living systems do not operate through endless output.
Forests have winters. Tides recede. Animals hibernate. Nervous systems require cycles of activation and recovery.
Without rest, even ecosystems begin to collapse.
Many people carry guiltfor slowing down.
For needing silence. For withdrawing. For sleeping deeply. For doing less.
Especially after long periodsof stress, performance, hypervigilance, or emotional survival.
But exhaustion is not always laziness.
Sometimes the body is attempting repair.
Sometimes safety first appearsas the ability to finally stop moving.
Rest is not separate from life.
It is one of the conditionsthat allows life to continue.
